The weak link of the traditional 2-axis milling head, the pole problem or the limited swing amplitude, has been solved by the newly developed 3-axis milling head. At 0°, the C axis and the milling spindle are parallel, which is called a polarity problem. As a result, at this point, the C-axis cannot rotate the spindle at all. In five-axis simultaneous machining, this challenge is particularly obvious. With the extremely large-scale operation of the C-axis, the vertical spindle looks like “dancing” on the surface of the workpiece at this time, which has an impact on production efficiency, surface processing quality and tool life. All have negative effects. There is another limitation. The latest research and development results regarding machine tool compensation and increased spatial accuracy cannot be applied to 2-axis milling heads. Therefore, it is necessary to use a milling head without polarity issues.
Such milling heads without polarity issues have been put into use, for example in the aircraft manufacturing industry, but these milling heads have many limitations due to their small rotation range and large volume. The solution is the new and unique M3 ABC milling head, which is the first milling head that combines all the advantages of other milling heads so far.
The shape of M3ABC, the figure shows that the milling head has improved the spindle head of the swing fork, and the B axis is added between the A axis and the C axis, so that the swing fork can rotate ±15° along the B axis arc guide, although the rotation angle It is not large and the speed is not high, but it is enough to eliminate the problem of spindle turning dead center when milling corners, and can realize 5-sided machining, creating a new situation for ABC-axis milling heads.
The new three-axis milling head M3 ABC integrates multiple applications: a large swing angle is sufficient to meet various processing requirements, and the pole problem is completely solved. Through the curved guide rail technology, it is the first time to combine the existing advantages of the concept.
But it is worth noting that although this machine has three swing angles of A, B, and C, it can only realize the linkage of two swing angles at the same time, and the third swing angle can only be used as the fixed swing angle of the attitude axis. It is actually a six-axis five-linkage machine tool. Of course, almost all current similar machine tools can only achieve five-axis linkage, which is equivalent to combining the AB-axis and AC-axis linkage function machine tools. The difficulty of handling work has also increased exponentially. Therefore, it is difficult to see the real objects of this kind of cnc machine tools in reality.
